CLU + Gigabyte 780 Results + OC Results

Ahokas99

So, got some spare time and desided to do a bit of refresh for new to me GPU, Gigabyte GHZ edition 780

On stock goop from factory (dont know the exact age of this card, many years atleast) the card reached 81c at a static 70% fan speed just for the sake of comparing each other.

This is what it looked like after about 10-15mins of Heaven benchmark, the stock tim is pretty melted up there. For both test's the room temp was "around'ish the same temp" a.k.a I myself didnt feel much difference between the test's.

Now, I applied some CoolLaboratory Liquid Ultra, bit of scraching/sanding of the copper contact, installation was a breeze. New temps were stabilizing around 73/74c (room started to heat up)  with a static 70% fan speed.

Afterall, for me it was worth it, this ended up lowering the average temp with "auto" fan on from 80c to 71/77 depending on the game, didn't notice much of a difference in sound/fan speeds, might be worth it to invest some time to find the perfect fan curve for my usage.

Might as well shamelessly self bumb this thread, overclocking results after applying the CLU. NOTE THAT I MODDED THE BIOS AFTER THE CLU APPLY (1,3v max limit)

Before: Pretty bad results, only passing 3dMark/Heaven with voltage maxed from afterburner (+62 at the time) core at 1150Mhz and stock memory for this particular run.           http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11071308   9 775 Firestrike Normal (With Time Measuring Warning=somewhat unstable and not so viable score)

After: Flashing the modified bios with 1.312v limit helps ALOT on this card, 1306Mhz & +350 to memory so far I have only tested (apart from Heaven/3dMark) Bf4 test range and it was stable the 10 mins I ran it, any additional up to core causes instability, so I'm fairly sure this is around the max clock for this card.

  http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11156952  10 797 Firestrike Normal

A mere 1022 point jump from just overclocking the card

These kepler gpu's have alot to offer, only if nvidia didn't push them out with such low coreclocks :/

Atlhough even an 290 will reck the 780 in modern games (thanks gimbvidia) it's still a capable card once OC'd and will handel most if not all older titles on high/ultra settings.
