Replacement stand for a TV

That's what I was thinking, but its a lot more money than the first type of stand I posted.

I would say go for the second it looks much sturdier, as for the bolts on the original they most likely are metric sized you can get a few within that size range and try them out.

I am being given a 42 inch Samsung that was wall mounted. I found the stand, but there are no screws to go with it and none of mine match the threading/size. On amazon there are replacement VESA stands that mount to the back in different styles like this or this. What would be my best option? I don't want it to be knocked over so it has to be fairly sturdy. I also can't wall mount it because the apartment doesn't allow it.

I think they are something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-TV-Stand-Screws-Set-of-4-6003-001782-6003001782-BN96-18013Z-/121600034614

Would a store like The Home Depot sell those?

Edit: Looks like these: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BN61-08106A-BN61-07941X-Screws-UN50H5203AF/dp/B01C1ZB06Y/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1482340009&sr=8-9

I might be able to buy them online but I won't know if they are exactly what I need: https://bestbuy.partsearch.com/Model/Samsung/Samsung/LNR237W1.aspx

You can flatten off the end of a very coarse wood screw those are self tapping plastic screws it would 't be the best but would work. I'm pretty sure you can source them online though.

Why not take the stand to a large hardware store and find matching screws and then spend the four dollars to buy those screws...?

It's mildly difficult to bring a TV into a hardware store. I know what screws it should take, but it would take a few weeks to ship.

Yeah, but I'm also broke after having to move.

My bad, I assumed the screws were for the base/stand.  Though if you know what size you need, why not check local sources first?

I briefly checked some stores and it didn't look like they had something that would work, and I wouldn't trust a 10 cent screw to hold up an expensive tv. My original plan was to get a media center with wall mount bracket, then I figured I could just buy a VESA stand that would probably work better than the original stand. I have no idea what size screw it is, only where to buy it online.

I assure you, that TV and all TVs ship with 10¢ screws. :)

A random 10 cent screw, apposed to the official replacement screws.

I lost the screws for my Samsung during the move to our new house but have a fully stocked Fastenal center at my shop so it was easy to find the right replacements.  The ones that connect the stand to the TV are M4x8 pan head machine screws or M4-0.7-8 (4mm head, 0.7 coarse thread pitch, 8mm long).  The screws that connect the base to the stand are the same head and pitch but are 12mm long.  The only thing official about a screw is it's size, not who sells it so don't get ripped off buying them from Samsung.

Oh, NOW you're good with 'A random 10 cent screw, apposed to the official replacement screws', huh?

If its the same threading, it should be fine. I don't want to use a random screw.

I literally said that you should find the screw that properly fits.  They're machine screws, they'll work or they won't.  It ain't rocket science to find the correct screw.
