Mother board capability

So I have a very very Old gateway pc and for christmas I am going to get a better graphics card; so I was wondering if my mother board a Dx4860 with pce v2.0 would be able to handle a 1070 or a 480?

It'll be fine, at most there'll be a couple fps drop but nothing noticeable.

Keep in mind though that Pascal and Polaris cards often don't want to work with pre-UEFI systems. A BIOS update from the manufacturer usually fixes this, especially if it's Ivy Bridge level functionality. Your BIOS should be 2012-2013 ish.
