Haswell or Skylake?

So im thinking of upgrading my PC this christmas and i have an idea of what i want. However, because im currently using an AMD X4 860K on the FM2+ platform i of course cant just upgrade my CPU to an Intel one and be done with it. So would buying a Haswell CPU such as an i5/i3 still be a good idea and would they still be suitable for gaming?( I will be pairing this CPU with a GTX 950). The reason why i want to know this is because if i don't go with a Haswell CPU, then i will have to go with a Skylake one, and then buy a new motherboard and a set of DDR4 RAM, which would be more expensive than me simply getting a Haswell CPU and motherboard.

I'd recommend going with Skylake because it will let you upgrade to Kaby Lake later, and because Skylake chips are priced similarly as their Haswell counterparts but perform better.

I would wait for kabylake, skylake prices will drop then you should buy a skylake if kabylake isn't much better.
