Gtx 1060 or rx 480?

severablepower

I have a decent gaming computer right now but it is seriously lacking in the gpu department. Being that holiday sales are on the way I am looking to upgrade to a better GPU. I have narrowed it down to the GTX1060 or the RX480. If anyone could give me some input on which one is better, which variant to use etc etc that would be great, keep in mind i live in Canada (up north eh) thank you :)

I'd personally get the RX 480. Unless you play a game like World Of Warcraft, which runs a fair bit better on Nvidia hardware.

Assuming between the 6GB and 8GB editions, whichever is cheaper.

i play many games just want to know which one runs most games better

They're pretty much dead even now. Whichever is cheaper is your best bet. Assuming a decent aftermarket one and not one of those weird single fan 1060's.

how much was it

its less expansive than the average gtx 1060 6gb, i got mine for 340 cad dollars plus i got free civ 6 game that i would have bought anyway, which is listed 80 cad dollars, which means i paid somewhat 260 cad dollars for the graphics card theorically, which translates to 195 usd

You clearly don't play WoW...

FPS plummets during raids.

This question keeps appearing and recently the answer has always been rx 480.

Someone should make a sticky of this and list the reasons why tbh...

He didn't overclock his hard drive, that's the issue!

i5 6600k and GTX 1070 but I play 1600-900. 1440p BABY!

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD

If you can find one cheaper than the other pick that one up. If they're about the same then pick up the 1060 6gb. Its faster atm and noone can really say which is going to be faster down the line.

Just no.

I've got an i7 4790k @4.5ghz, 16gb ram + RX 480. In raids, i have to lower the settings to roughly preset 7  (10 being the highest, 1 the lowest) to maintain 60fps in a raid. Also, WoW is on my SSD.
