quad core laptop sub $1k reccomendations?

SloppyFloppy

I'm looking to buy a new laptop as my old one just died. I'd appreciate any help with tips or ideas.

Some requirements:

-Quad core haswell

-15" or smaller(preferably)

-Good battery life ~9 hours

-User replaceable HD & ram (I already have ssd and will buy 16g later)

-Big Synaptics touch pad like on mbp

Would be nice to have back lit keyboard and 1080p but the cheaper the better.

Anything I'm missing? I hope I got the right section this time.  Thanks.

Post this in the 'New Builds and Planning' subsection. They should be able to help you there. This sub forum is for mobile gaming (ie on your phone/tablet) like the title says.

Edit. Just saw you posted in that forum. That is the correct forum. I don't know why they directed you here.

  • 3 weeks later...

Other than thinkpads or laptops with intel Ultra Low Voltage cpus (none quad core) I don't think you'd be able to get 9 hours of battery life out of the laptop, at least not for that price. What are you doing with a laptop that requires 4 cores? is dual core hyperthreaded OK? (they have better performance than amd quad cores at most stuff) Do you want it to be thin and light? Dedicated GPU? How small are you willing to go?

Buy this one. It's extremely good quality, user replaceable parts and 1080p screen will suit you well. Also, the graphics are quite good.

This one is good for the smaller screen. Parts are still user replaceable but it costs more and has lesser graphics.
