So now that the benchmarks are out I want honest opinions. I want to upgrade my gtx 670. I play at 1440p. My choice is between a 290x and a 780. I will add a waterblock to it in the short term. Now I play bf4 almost exclusively but I also play tw rome 2. The complaints of the drivers about nvidia makes me nervous to switch but the 290x has 4gb of ram.

BF4 is optimized specifically for AMD. Get the 290X

 

AMD also performs better than Nvidia at higher res.

If you're not in a hurry, wait for aftermarket 290x's and for the LTT crew to put together some waterblocked benchmarks. 

You can make a more educated decision then.
