Secondary HDD causing booting issues

So I've just had a compulsory windows update. This pc has been running fine for months ,however after I updated it's just gets stuck at win 10 circular orb while booting. The problem seems to have been solved when I removed the HDD. Is the HDD spoiled? Windows is in the 840 evo and the HDD is WD green 4tb. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!
