Hi guy!

I have one big problem, i hope you can help me because i search all the internet and didnt find anything usefull i can do. So here it is:

The Problem:

My laptop is Acer Aspire 5742G and when gaming CPU reaches 105Cº and instead of shuting down (thx god he doesn't shut down) he "downgrade" the CPU, so the game starts to freeze and the FPS goes to 10FPS, after like 1 min the CPU returns to normal and game goes to 90FPS again.

What i already did:

My laptop have like 5 years old and i have open and clean it like 4 times and each time he doenst have any dust on it. So its not dust problem.

I have already changed the thermal paste of CPU 1 time.

What i tried to do:

I went to BIOS tried to look for the FAN settings to increase the RPM but on my BIOS it doesnt detect any FAN.

I tried to install also some programs to detect hardware and FANS but still nothing, no FAN detected but the FAN are spinning and working (i think).

I tried fanspeed, fan utility, HWMonitor, nothing detect my FAN.

What im thinking to do:

I have seen one guy with the same laptop as i and he have cutted the laptop "chassis" at the bottom of CPU to get more cold.

My laptop Specs are:

Model: Acer Aspire 5742G

CPU: Intel Core i5-480M 2.66GHZ

Graphic: Nvidia Geforce GT540-M and Inntel HD graphics

RAM: 8GB DDR3

Samsung SSD 320GB

If someone have the solution for my problem i will be very gratefull :)

Should work

With laptops like this, this is often normal due to the small case and high thermal output and cheap design and cooling.

have you tried speed fan to edit the fan speed?

I have never done it before, but have removed the entire chasis of many laptops. I would look at where the intake fan is, cut some holes on the OPPOSITE site of the case, so that the fan pulls air from the other side, across all other components.

Simply adding vents next to the intake will reduce cooling to other parts of the laptop

I think my laptop have only 1 fan, i think it called dissipator to extract the heat from CPU and GPU. But next time i open it i will do a closer look

Yes mate, i have tried a bunch of programs and no one have detected the fan =l

did you check for a custom setting for your motherboard for speed fan?

maybe your bios just doesn't support it. You could get a laptop cooler. My pal drilled holes in the bottom of his old laptop to help with cooling.

Hey dude , i recommend using a house fan , YEs! The one that moves left and right to keep your human body cool , and put it underneath your laptop and let it run , i have the exact same laptop as you and i play gta 5 with the temp of 50 to 60 degrees average of 48
