I have a spare 2500k cpu and would like to build an htpc

i cant seem to find an overclockable mini/microatx board for this cpu (other than the maximus v gene, which is way over budget).

so if I were to work with an ATX board, i would like to use the smallest possible case.

Any idea?

thanks.

1) You really don't need to OC for a HTPC. It will make it noisy, which is undesirable.

2) There's the Cooler Master Elite 361, which is basically an ATX Mini-Tower.

http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-tower/elite-361/

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

one of the smaller ones. I'd just get a cheap mATX or mITX board, screw OCing

well I plan on using a 1060 (or possibly a 1070).

And i believe OCing will help with the slight bottleneck.

It will, I'm not sure it's enough to be worth it. You can still game on a Sandy Bridge and a 1070 just watch them CPU-Heavy settings.

There is like 200-300 dollar difference between 1060 / 1070 so why not get a new cpu? So let's say you can afford 1070 then you can surely afford 1060 and better cpu

Anyway. What resolution you plan to play at as 1070 is not needed for 1080p at all

ok, well then in that case, what do you suggest as far as the smallest microatx case (that can support a 1060).

disregard, I don't plan on using a 1070. I meant 1050ti (possibly a 1060).

I do want to play lets say witcher 3 on max settings on 1080p (hairworks off).
