currently i have my ps4 plugged into my tv.

whenever i play call of duty the connection is a 4 bars meaning good

but when i use my phone for wifi while playing with the ps4 online the connection drops down to a red bar meaning bad

can i use an old pc "with its own separate modem and router" for the ps4 and the other pc "also has its own modem and router"for general wifi for things such as; phone, etc...?

can this even work? because its still the same "wifi" its not like i'm paying for two separate wifis. i want to know if i give the ps4 its own router and modem will it have a better effect.

or do i just have to suck it up and pay more for my wifi bill

i tried connecting the ps4 to my pc with a ethernet cable but whenever i do that my pc doesnt have wifi only the ps4, or does that mean something is wrong with my pc.

i can try connecting it to the laptop? idk if it will work

any suggestions?

Best connection method: connect your PS4 to a modem directly with an ethernet cable

Next best: connect your PS4 to a router, and put it in the DMZ or forward the necessary ports

If those do not work, and you still experience slowdowns, then you likely don't have enough bandwidth (not trying to be rude, but your wording was very poor and I have no idea what you are doing currently)

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...

While connecting the pc to a modem or router, should my pc be able to use internet such as load up browsers and watch videos?

of course. it's connected to the modem or router! but what does that have to do with your PS4?

last time i tried, i cant recall when and what i did, but i plugged a ethernet from the ps4 to the pc or router or modem (cant recall) and the ps4 worked amazing with no lag online but i couldn't use the pcs internet. For example, I would load up browsers from the pc and it will say no wifi but the ps4 was no longer lagging.

What did i do wrong? idk

i probably have to try it again

goal: to have ps4 not lag while still being able to use pc and other wifi

result: plugged ps4 ethernet to router or modem or pc(cant recall) and ps4 was no longer lagging but the pc had no internet

is that strang?

currently: ps4 plugged to tv, wireless connected to pc, every time i use my phone goes from green bar to red, then when i stop using my phone it goes from red bar to green on the ps4.

GOOD GOD DON'T PLUG THE PS4 INTO THE PC!!!!

Like I outlined, this is how your PS4 should be connected to things:

Best connection method: connect your PS4 to a modem directly with an ethernet cable

Next best: connect your PS4 to a router, and put it in the DMZ or forward the necessary ports

Beyond that, if your other devices using wifi still induce lag when you use them, it's probably because your internet is slow. what are your speeds?

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling
