I've got Gskill rip jaws 16gb (2x8gb) DDR 4 3000mghz 16-16-16-36 dual channel black in color. I want to add another set of dual channel same make, speed, size, etc but I want to do red instead of black to go along with the red and black theme of my rig. I can't seem to find a red pair with the exact memory timings as the pair I have now. If I get a red pair and the timings are the only thing that are different would this cause any conflicts with anything or since it's on a separate channel will it just run independently without causing any problems. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If your ok with changing the timings yourself, go for it but it's super tedious.

Basically the 3 main things that have to match are Voltage, Timings and CAS Latency. Speed and architecture are less of a concern.

You could paint them? I've done that, pretty fun actually

Computer will force them to run at a common set of timings.  Don't over think it.  I used three different brands / speeds of RAM in my first computer and it ran happily for quite a few years.

CPU || Ryzen 2700x @ 4.3ghz  Motherboard || ROG Strix B450F  RAM || 16GB TridentZ 3600 B-Die  GPU || ASUS ROG Strix 1080Ti  Case || Thermaltake V71 RGB  Storage || Intel 760p 240GB + Intel 535 480GB SSD + 1TB WD 7200RPM HDD  PSU || Corsair HX850i  Cooling || Corsair H110i GTX  Keyboard || Corsair K70  Mouse || Logitech G502 Proteus  Sound || Bose Companion 5  Operating System || Windows 10 Pro

Yes and No. Brand, Speed and Architecture aren't the problem. Any experienced techie will tell you just how important stable ram is to a system, those who've ever tried to diagnose a ram problem will know. They are super annoying. It's the reason why they make such a large variety of kits. Like why would you make 4gb/8gb and 16gb kits if just getting a multiple of 4 was good.

I'm sorry but just saying 'don't worry about it' is why I have to deal with so many weird as issues all the time because someone decided to use 4 completely different modules.

I appreciate the info. Guess I'll end up getting another identical dual channel set to avoid any problems. Just thought that since they were going to be running on separate channels it wouldn't be a problem I.E 2x8gb 16-16-16-36 on one channel and 2x8gb 14-14-14-34 running on the other channel. But I think I'll just avoid wasting money on a possibility and just go with an guarantee instead. I can just got with APaz's suggestion and paint them if it comes down to it. Thanks again guys.

I'm not saying it's a great idea, but it sounds like the OP is buying a very similar set.  Unlikely there would be any issues in their scenario.  Besides, basically everywhere has a return policy that would allow him to rethink it if it turns out to cause instability.
