I7 3770k oc gtx 1060 6gb oc 16gb ram ok for 1440p 60fps

I'd go for 1070 if you want max settings just to be same.

Ik what I mean but I'm on a budget and I've found a used pc for 550 with a 3770k and rx 470 which I'd swap with a 1060 so seems like good value

Yeah, it's great value imo.

the 1060 is decent for 1440p, but may not be up to snuff on demanding or gpu-bound titles. a 1070, 1080, titan xp, or rumored 1080Ti are your best bets here.

no you won't. though it also depends on whether the game is demanding/unoptimized

So can I run forza horizon 3@ 1440 at whatver settings to get 60 frames or 1080

i don't have a 1060, but i imagine it'll run decently at forza horizon 3. don't rely on the older benchmarks from when the game first came out. the slew of patches that were released intermittently made performance a lot better.

 

the game also uses and optional dynamic optimization to change quality settings on-the-fly, so i would use that option. though it'll decrease settings a bit more if you're at 1440p.
