I have a gaming computer that I built less than 6 months ago, but my graphics card (GTX970) is a year and a half old. I started having problems about a week ago with the screen turning black for about 5 to 10 seconds, but only when I was watching videos. It would happen every hour or so. I have also been gaming (mostly Battlefield 1 and Arma 3) and have not noticed any issues with one exception, and that was a problem that many people were having with Arma recently and I am pretty sure it was a glitch with the game. What happened was all you can see is floating vests and the ground and it was getting about 2 fps, but many other people were complaining about this problem so it is probably not due to my computer. The problem I am having happened when I was watching Netflix, and it was occasionally blacking out as it had been for the last week, and I think pressing escape got the screen to return to normal (but I an not 100% sure that that is the case). As I was watching the video, the screen when black again, but this time it stayed black. I restarted the computer and all that would happen was the screen would flash the lock screen for half a second and then go black, however, the monitor is still reviving a signal because it does not tell me that there is no input signal. I then inspected my graphics card, and the fans were still working, so I pulled the graphics card, but I have not had a chance to test it in another computer, but I do not think the card is the problem because when I hooked the monitor up directly to the motherboard to use the on board graphics, it was pretty much having the same problem. The only difference was that it would flash the ASUS loading emblem for a half a second instead of the lock screen. I then tried resetting the CMOS, but all it did was flash the loading emblem for a second. If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated.
