fps drops

With anygame I play I will be running at a smooth like 60-200 fps (depends on game) and every few minutes I will just plummet in fps, Ill drop to 20 or lower. Why is this happening, im an EXTREMELY competitive person, I want to win. Period. So anything that is putting me at such a massive disadvantage needs to stop right now. 

 

I run a AMD Athlon X4 860K and a GeForce GTX 960 ive been sitting on my desktop for above 5-10 min and my cpu average temp is 77 and my gpu is 59 (According to CAM https://www.camwebapp.com)

An average temperature of 77C is pretty high for an AMD processor. So that makes me think it's thermal throttling.

I know, I bought the PC brand new online so I dont see why there should be any problem with cooling

Well this is the first place you should look at. See if there's something wrong with the heat sink and fan or whatever. Maybe they didn't install it properly or it got loose in transit.

Well ive had the PC for probably a year now

Regardless of how old or whatever, your CPU temps are extraordinarily high. Go fix that.

I dont know how to fix it, I dont even know what the heat sink is

85c? It's amazing your computer is still on at that point.

i bought my pc about a year ago also and im having the same issue well i was but yea it was thermal throttling i fixed it

your CPU is thermal throttling, AMD CPU's start thermal throttling at 85c or 90c, just get yourself an AIO water cooler and everything will be fine, I recommend Corsair Hydro H60, or get a decent CPU heat sink, maybe CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO, you may have a stock AMD heat sink which is pretty bad, buy a good CPU cooler and let someone who knows how help you install it
