Hello everyone,

I am looking to buy some extra parts to finish a computer build. I already have the storage and the Video card, and operating system, i am looking to keep it around 700-800 dollars.

basically my thoughts right now are a:

What i need:

6600k / 6700k

32GB ram

Hyper 212 EVO

Asus Z170-P atx 1151

NZXT Phantom 530

Seasonic 520W 80+ Bronze

PRICE ~~ $750 with a 6600k

Parts i have:

GPU: GTX 970 Gigabyte Windforce

Storage: PNY 240GB cs1311

I guess my biggest thoughts are if i should actually spend the extra money on the 6700k or not. I mainly game on my computer, playing world of warcraft, League of Legends, and a couple of others. I also would like to make sure i have plenty of headroom for streaming at some point. I also am running two monitors, one for the game that i am playing and the other for many good chrome tabs(typically) for watching Youtube, Netflix, and others.

I'd wait for the 7th gen i5 and i7 or the zen SR5 and SR7, with kaby lakes 10-bit encoding you can also watch 4k netflix.

If you're able to wait that long go for the 7600k

you can buy ram and MoBo if you stay at intel

I'd ditch the 32gB for 16 and save it for the i7

@jeffhennen, I'd suggest you get 16 GB of RAM at the most for now. You'd also want to add in a 1 TB HDD if possible. To be honest, a GTX 970 would be nicely paired with an i5-6500, 8GB of RAM, stock Intel cooler and a B150 chipset motherboard. The i5-6600K setup you chose is a little overkill in my opinion. :)

he has the money so,  i7 would be much better option also 8 GB ram is too little for keeping lots of chrome tab open

Please stop exaggerating how much RAM Chrome uses. It is more than other browsers, but do you really know how much it takes for 8 GB of RAM to be fully utilized? Please think before making such statements.

if you just game , 6600 and 12~16gb of ram ( 8 at least) and something like a R9 290/390/480 or a 970 or bigger

the advantages of a 67k in gaming are almost null

RyzenAir : AMD R5 3600 | AsRock AB350M Pro4 | 32gb Aegis DDR4 3000 | GTX 1070 FE | Fractal Design Node 804
RyzenITX : Ryzen 7 1700 | GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI | 16gb DDR4 2666 | GTX 1060 | Cougar QBX

@jeffhennen, which version of the NZXT Phantom 530 are you planning to get? The white, black or red one? :)

He already has a GTX 970, so we'll just build the system around that component. :)

I highly doubt OP will be playing such games. They're not very popular, are they?

out of my 47 steam friends 31 play SE , its pretty popular (but has lost alot of players) and a notorious  ram eater , esp when you have a planet or 2

3gb on the menu , when loading in a solar system it just creeps up until w10 force closes it because of ram utilization

Ok, I've read more about the game and many say the RAM issue is due to poor optimization. Also, wouldn't planets be stored in VRAM instead of system RAM due to being a part of the "textures"? :)

its not a texture

best example is the trailer for it , not trying to sell anything here

Sorry, Socket type i mean

The chipsets will be compatible across both Skylake and Kaby Lake, but I'm not sure how far it will go socket-wise. It will probably be the same as chipsets as well. Probably. :)

@jeffhennen, I did some quick research and yes, Kaby Lake CPUs will be using the same LGA 1151 socket as their Skylake counterparts. :)
