6600K should be good enough :) But if you can spend more. Go for the i7.

Yea like I said. It should work fine. But if you have the extra money and you are willing to spend it. Just go for the i7.

umm. i7=hyperthreading. photoshop = likes hyper threading ==> get i7

Photoshop has very few functions that take advantage of hyperthreading. You may be thinking of Lightroom.

If you can afford both the i7 and the 1080 then go for it, both would be helpful in your use case.

However "good" the i5 is, the i7 will be better. Take it from someone who has had both an i5 6600k @4.6ghz and an i7 6700k @4.5 and the 1080 loves the extra power the i7 has. Also since you edit the i7 should be a no-brainer.

I'd disagree with that, the i7 will give you a minimum frame rate boost.

Can you get the i7 and the 1070?

Read the articles I posted above and find if the performance is worth it to you for the extra $100. Some of the functions in Lightroom and nearly all functions in Photoshop benefit from high clock speeds. Lightroom is the only area that your cost will make a difference.

Like I always say "Get the best CPU you can buy". If you can buy the i7 now and save up for a 1070 or 1080, go for it. I wouldn't use the 1060 with that monitor.
