upgrading my computer

So I want to upgrade my computer.

 

Current setup is below except for the 760 I know have a 1070 gpu.

 

At first I was going to go along the lines of

I heard I should look into the x99 boards and this is what I have come up with from that chipset and this is what I came up with

So my questions are why the x99 board the only thing I have noticed is the quad channel memory which I have heard is much faster. Beyond that I'm not sure why the broadwell cpu is more expensive but has a slower clock. And should I get 16gb of memory and at what speed should I stop going up to ddr4 4266. I will also be getting a 1070 soon and plan to use sli. I mostly just use my computer for gaming and I'll be going to college next year to get a degree in software engineering so idk if that helps with what ill being using it for. 

 

Another question would be should I be upgrading at all. I kind of just wanted a new case but then I got into looking at other parts and I honestly feel like my 1070 isn't performing the best it can so I feel like my system I bottle necking its power

you're on x79, so you still have an upgrade path to Ivy Bridge E. You can get a cheap 6-core or 8-core that benchmarks better than a 6700k
