I recently got the HyperX cloud 2s and was a little disappointed when they were lacking in the bass department. I read several reviews saying that they were boomy and they made explosions sound awesome, however with mine they sound a bit flat. I tested them with and without the usb dongle and when I plugged them into my pc I changed the equalizers and that made little to no difference with the bass. Are these cans more neutral than I thought? Or are they bass heavy as I have read? Additionally, I got a free pair of beats by dre solo 2 when I got my mac a couple years ago and those had good bass, will these compare or are the beats just so overpowering? Thanks in advance!

I guess its what you define as good bass. You're probably more of a bass head.

They definitely arent neutral sounding, but they arent extremely bass-y

that is really damn weird, Could be a fit problem.

the beats are definitely heavier

I tried both the leather and fabric ear cups and it seemed to help a little with bass but really not that much. All it really did was do better with noise isolation. Do you think it could be a faulty headset? I agree that the beats do have a lot of bass but these really don't have that much at all. When listening to the same songs I get more oomph with the iphone earbuds at the same volumes which confuses me.

I think that if equalizers aren't doing anything then something is probably wrong.

Hey I appreciate the quick responses but one more question; I changed the equalizers on my mobo when I plugged the headset into it directly, do the included usb dongle have any equalizers? Once again I have read reviews saying that they do and others saying that they do not and anyhow I have not found any for them?

If you have thick hair, glasses, wear an exercise band all the time, or anything else that would prevent a good pad seal, this could compromise bass.

I dont wear glasses or any type of headband and my hair doesnt get in the way so nothing is obstructing them, however they arent that tight but they dont fall off if I shake my head so I guess they fit okay. I dont own that many headphones to compare them to its just the beats and those are painful for me to wear because their clamping force is very strong and headband hurts like crap.

Cloud II's are decently V-shaped. You're just used to the heavy ass bass from your Beats. Beats do not have good bass. It's there in spades, but the quality is not what you'd call good. Better than Monster generation Beats I guess.

Don't tread on me. I squish, and white liquid comes out. It's icky, trust me.
