Mid range graphic cards

Hi im new to pc build and was wondering what a good price to proformance gpu would be for a mid range gaming pc. i was thinking a gtx 1060 or a rx 480

Both are good cards, which one to buy depends on your budget and whether your interested in specific features each one offers.

as someone who has a 480, id recommend that one.

That price range is so saturated with new and used cards that it is hard to make a finite recommendation, however I would go with the 1060 6gb.

According to recent retests they're about equal in most games (a few with a 480 advantage). The 1060 has less TDP and depending on the cooler better temps because of it but the 480 has freesync which means it's significantly cheaper to get an adaptive sync type display (Gsync monitors are expensive).

 

If you can find a Sapphire Nitro 480 8gb at a good price I'd go with that.

Look at some benchmarks, figure out which one has the best performance for the games you're likely to play, and get that card. If anything.
