Looking for an Ultrabook

Hello guys! I'm currently looking for an ultra book to replace my bulky 15.6" ASUS Q500A. This laptop will be mainly used for productivity, so a dedicated GPU is not needed.

Budget is scalable, but I'd prefer to keep it to around $500-700 USD.

 

What I need:

  • Portability (Lightweight, thin)
  • Aesthetically pleasing
  • Good typing experience
  • Programming delight
  • Good battery life
  • Low-price
  • Decent cooling
  • 13"-15"
  • Longevity of product [Prefer this to last me through my senior year (2017-2018) and beginning of college]

What I'll be doing:

As a novice in computer science, I mainly do web development and (soon) software development.

  • Installing Arch Linux
  • Compiling
  • Media consumption
  • Web browsing
  • Note-taking

What I've looked at:

  • Dell XPS 13/15 (Con: pricey)
  • ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA
  • Lenovo Ideapad 710S (Con: shift key)

Although I prefer new products, I'll keep it in mind. The one thing that puts me off about the configuration you sent me is the 4GB of memory. Although not a BIG deal, I happen to keep a lot of tabs open, etcetera. I'll just have to moderate it if I go with 4GB.

Cheapest 8gb ram is at 980 and new. Also it comes with skylake i5
