These seem to be software versions.

Id stay away from these as there 10/100 not gigabit.

they both have stickers on the back for IOS 12.2 - and also the *are* gigabit. The only downside to older switches like this is that they use more power than a newer switch would.

OP - I've searched and I can't find any difference between them. I've never seen versions like this - Cisco only made the C3560 line, and the C3560V2 line. If these were C3560V2 that would be before the -48PS-S. My best guess is that there are minor revisions internally that don't affect the feature set - could be type of fan, or power supply, etc. I would get the V7 unless the V4 is cheaper.

EDIT: see your making a ccna lab, no working with data, so speed should matterh

Yeah. I just got an SG-300 28 port for my "real non lab stuff"

This model seems to be 10/100 on most ports with four sfp gigabit ports., there was a 3560G with all gig ports.

well crap, my bad. I'm used to the HP way of naming switches, where they use the speed of the access ports, not the speed of the uplinks.

V07: 2009 date, IOS says SE5

V04: 2007 date, IOS says SE3

Sorry but what does the "se" mean?

I do not see any evidence that V04 or V07 is a part of the SKU

I had assumed that is was the software versions and I can just update it when I get it. I need one (or two IDK yet) for my CCNA lab. I have 2 2960s already so IDK how many L3 switches I need

It's just a revision letter/number or so...

https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10506486/confused-about-ios-version-ending-se-see

I just use 2 2960s, a 3750 switch.

I also use a 2901 and a 1841 router.

I did go to the software download page and the highest version was 6.something. So like you I have no idea what it means

that is inconsequential  - it's just the revision of the major version. a few bugfixes most likely. And the chances of these switches having the version indicated on them is slim - you normally find that the routers have been updated since leaving the factory. And if not, you can do it yourself.

Its the HARDWARE revision and has nothing to do with software. So long as you get software for the right model number the version of the hardware makes no difference.

if Cisco change capacitors or minor components inside due to a supplier change or update, or they choose a different PSU supplier then Cisco are duty bound to advise customers by way of using Version level stickers on the back of those offending switches V01 V0-2 but the part code remains the same , over the last 20 years my company has sold thousands of Cisco switches and i can tell you ive not had one instance where it makes ANY difference, the operational useage remains unchanged, its purely a manufacturing notice, if the part code though were to change to -V2 then thats different, thats a major technical difference,
