Hi, like many people I use flash drives/external hard drives etc. I've been looking at my laptop and notice there are 2 thunderbolt ports. I never really paid attention to them, but now that I know more about tech I've began to wonder, why arent any flash drives using Thunderbolt? Thunderbolt has 10 Gb/s max, which is twice as fast as USB 3.0, so why aren't there any type of flash storage that instead of using a USB 3.0 to send data, use a thunderbolt?

Thanks!

Idon't know of any. Other than thunderbolt being rare, a flash drive would cost more to make, and have to be bigger, A external ssd is basically thine same thing anyways.

Ah ok. So what is the point of thunderbolt then? (Besides being used for like monitors right?)

Its pcie so you can easily convet it to other interfaces, and have much closer access to the system bus. its much faster for large ssd's and drive arrays, allows egpu's
