Hi guys,

I bought a new mobo and processor and had to format my pc. So, i want to know if Windows Update is enough for drivers updates. The only one i manually updated was the GPU driver. The others i made Windows update for me.

What i fear is: Does ''Windows Update'' really update all drivers such as chipset, audio, usb, lan and others? Or i really need to download from the motherboard manufacturer?

Yes, you can. No need to go manual. Even if there is a more recent version of the driver available via direct install, there isn't really any need for 99% of basic hardware. If you encounter a serious bug with some device, a manual driver update may resolve the issue, but it's rarely the case.

windows update can make some hardware stop working. iv had problems with printer drivers and old hardware in the past. but that would not stop me from using windows update because you do get some pretty important security related stuff. once a month on a tuesday is when the important updates come out, thats when I backup and update windows.

this one every user should follow

I update manually and only when the patch applies to me.

that really depends on the hardware. LAN, USB, audio is pretty good, never had a problem. Had problems with printers and GPU

I personally use Iobit's Driver Booster, You can use the Windows Update but you should probably at least for the more sensitive drivers like the GPU ones, if you have a dedicated wireless card... etc directly from the manufacture website.

Cheers

Windows update only handles drivers Microsoft verifies as stable, and typically, those are either peripheral drivers or Windows basic drivers.

For chipset, GPU, mainboard, and storage device drivers, you're 100,000,000x better off doing it either manually, or update utilities that cover those devices (MSi Live update if you use an MSI mainboard or GPU, or any of their systems. NVidia GeForce Experience for NVidia GPUs, and AMD's drivers update tab for their GPUs.)

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

Download from the manufacturer.

Unless there is a device that isn't working then why bother? for GPU I can understand for latest patches for games and performance but for everything else there is really no need.
