Hey guys,

So the other day i turned on my pc only to be greeted by a red screens with vertical lines. The pc showed the motherboard logo then showed a blank screen then there was no connection.

Here were the troubleshoots i did

  • Removed ssd - same result although once it did load bios but it was all red with the lines

(This proves it shouldn't be a windows problem as i removed the ssd with the OS )

  • removed all system fans - same result

the error codes i got were 66(or bb) a6(b) and 36 for these results

  • When i removed the graphics card my system began working properly again. windows booted normally and its working fine. Why is this, what is the problem and what should i do?

Parts

i5-6600k

msi gaming m5 motherboard

corsair cx 750m (black and white  version)

msi gaming x 1070

intel 540 ssd

if this is one of your first times booting up, either the gpu had something happen to it, e.g. powersurge. static etc - or maybe the cpu just ran out of pcie lanes - the 6600k only has 16, not sure how many the 1070 takes up, but pcie ssds usually take up 4 or more  (if ur ssd is m.2 if it's not don't have anything other than that for now)

Im confused why you removed all the fans as a troubleshoot lol.

Its a graphics card or possibly psu issue(not giving enough power to the card), do you have the most updated drivers installed for it?

i took out the fans to see if there was a problem with the psu not giving enough power. You never know.

no its not. ive been using the pc since august. Im not sure if it would be a powersurge as i have a protector on my outlet. And i usually take precautions for static

have you done anything with ur computer? kicked it or something like that - the psu has more than enough wattage to power the system even if it's not delivering what the wattage is, there should be 250 watts of headroom - reconnect the power cables on the gpu and move it to a different pcie slot

Do you have another PSU you can use in the system? to check if its that.
Or another card to use in the pcie slot, to see if its the slot or a motherboard issue.
Or another PC that works, that you can put the card in, to see if its a card issue?

Ill try it in another slot. if that doesnt work ill try it in another pc. Although i dont think those psu can support it but if im not testing i should be fine. ill double check
