Cable is plugged into the motherboards HDMI out, are you saying swap to the gtx output?

Yes.  If the Mobo knows that there's a dedicated gpu, it will output to that by default

just another thing to point out is that my mouse lights are not lighting up, neither are my keyboard lights, from any of the usb ports

So Swap to the dGPU's outs.

Do you have spekers plugged into the actaul mobo's internal connectors? If not, plug them in. If its not posting, it will give you beep errors so you can figure out what is wrong.

What is the computer doing when you turn it on? do the fans turn on? Also, there should be a small digital display on the Mobo with various POST codes (A2 for example).  Does that display anything?

Mine does this too, if i plug my HDMI into my mobo, even when my 480 is removed from the system, it wont display the BIOS, it only displays when i plug a little 1024x768 resolution monitor into the vga port.

Try connecting a vga display or different res display and see if it'll display.

I forgot about that. Not all motherboards have that display which is what a speaker is for. Otherwise use the display. You can google for the codes for your mobo if they are not included in the manual.

If there are no beeps, and no fans than its your PSU. Do you have everything plugged in?

He said that his keyboard and mouse don't light up, so its probably another issue.

So the GPU and CPU fans are on. Put some headphones in and can't hear any beeps. I will try and look for a VGA monitor in my house :P

Not headphones. There is an internal speaker connector on the motherboard. The manual should tell you where.

OK so there is one small red LED light on the motherboard which is lit up, of the three (they say CPU, DRAM, VGA) the DRAM light is on. I'g guessing that is a RAM problem? Ram sticks are both properly fitted, and were brand new.

Resinstall the ram. Its more likely that they are in the wrong slots. Does the MOBO support duel channel? Are they compatible(DDR3/DDR4)? Is it duel channel ram? How is the ram placed?

I have filled 2/2 slots for the RAM. Boh sticks came from the same package, can they really be placed in the wrong way round? And ye its the correct/compatible ram.

I would do the same thing with your GPU as well, and also check the power connectors for the GPU and Motherboard.

No they can't be the wrong way around because of that little notch in the middle.  Just reseat it and make its in all the way.  and as mentioned, do the same with your video card and check its power connectors.

Ok I'll reinstall ram and gpu. Thanks for the hep guys, will let you know if the problem is fixed. Sometimes I guess you just assume everything went in perfectly :P

Had dinner, and got back into it. So I took out the ram and realised that I cannot actually get them in the slot fully such that the lock is fully locked into the tab on the side of the stick. Im guessing this must be the issue.

Edit: I got them in finally, problem is not solved, there are now new error lights, will post a new topic :(
