That's an expensive motherboard, and you don't have an SSD.

Also that PSu is terrible compared to the G2

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MfJwrH/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

I'd also want 16GB of RAM

it might be worth dropping to a GTX 1070 to get a more well-rounded build

I Sort of agree on Dropping to a 1070

Picking up a decent SSD and 8gb more of Ram For a more Rounded Build  a better PSU would be good but a 1070/1080 arent that power hungry so i think overall its fine

Another option IMO

Maybe getting a SSD instead of the hard drvie for now and  plan on Buying 8gb of ram and a HDD later down the road when you have more money since upgrading thoses is easier and much lower cost then if you got the 1070 but later wanted something faster.

Id go with the second option personally unless you knew your not spending another dollar on the build anytime soon if so option 1

Yeah i would say its best in the longer Run.

But id Deffiently get the SSD over a HDD now as it will be the boot drive and will be almost no work to add the HDD besides pluging it in

where as if you get a HDD and add SSD youll have to mirror copy transfer or reinstall everything

the OP seems to do 1080p gaming. With a 1080, 1080p is simply just overkill and would need to step up to 2k-3k to really get the max performance of the 1080. the 1070, as well the 1060, are prefect for 1080p gaming with the 1070 also being good for 1440p gaming. So what he meant by a well rounded build was pretty much this. it is pointless if you are getting a 1080 and are only going to do 1080p gaming where a 1070 can max out pretty much at 1080p with most trip A title games.

EDIT: I am agreeing with you ;)

A 1080 is pretty nice for 144 Hz. He will be able to run pretty much all games at 144 fps.

it is a 144hz Moinitor Which will utilize the 1080 I dont agree with the choice personally  of 1080p and a GTX 1080 but everyone has there preferences and thats all this is.

i have 2 4k Moinitors and id rather play 4k 60hz then 1080p 144hz  but both will use a GTX 1080 pretty well

I'm planning on upgrading the monitor over the next year or so which would be cheaper than upgrading the GPU

yes, but with no SSD, only 8GB of RAM, and a sub-par CPU cooler for overclocking.

Dropping to a 6700 is also an option, save cash on the cooler and motherboard

not really even if he went with a 1070. even so if he bought a 1070 from EVGA he can benefit from the upgrade program to upgrade to a 1080. Having a 1080 in the build will require for less quality parts, even in mine it is not perfect in respect to a 1070.

@STRMfrmXMN has the PSU on tier 2. I trust that he knows what he is talking about. And the motherboard? What features would he be getting with a more expensive motherboard that he could actually use? And maybe the HDD isn't that fast, but it wont matter very much when he has an SSD.
