Budget gaming rig

jaffacakes

I'm building a budget gaming PC for a friend.

Budget is €400(-ish)

He's got €50 for monitor and mouse+keyboard (the monitor I put in the build is a placeholder)
I'll be getting him a used monitor for €20 (768p) and the rest will be going in cheap peripherals.

This is what I came up with:

Slightly better processor and a GPU with more than 1 fan for the same price, otherwise it's hard to beat your build for that pricer

I would pay the extra bit to get the 1050ti, it should perform way better for its added price. And it only costs 34 more euros.

If you want to reply back to me or someone else USE THE QUOTE BUTTON!

Can you OC on a A68H chipset? If so, I'll get him that CPU.

That Athlon x4 doesnt make sense.. its totally outdated and u wont be able to play future games.. sure u can but with low fps.

If u want something more futureproof but on a tight budget grab the Intel pentium G4400 which is more powerful and get lga 1551 skylake motherboard, u can upgrade to upcoming kaby lake or better skylake processor like i3 6100 and u can get a decent PSU like seasonic s12II..
Check this built.. its far more better and futureproof . and SSD as boot drive to make ur pc more responsive.

and dont bother with 1050 ti.. if u can spend 10 more euro and u can get RX 470 which is more powerful.

First of all, you are going €80 overbudget.

I said that my friend's budget is €400 and that the monitor is just a placeholder.

Second, the PSU I chose is perfectly fine, XFX's PSUs are all fine choices, especially on a budget.

I went for the athlon x4 since I don't know if my friend is going to ever upgrade, so a quad core CPU wouldn't be a bar choice. (I'll talk to him about upgrading, if he wants to I'll get him the Pentium.

Thank you for the response

Snip

This is the best suggestione so far.

Those €10 aren't a problem, €40 for both monitor and peripherals are plenty.

Should I be going for 1600 ram for a few euros more?

not really, 1333 should be fast enough.

Those XFX XT is not a good psu.. it will work yes but for those who value their rig will choose a better psu.

Those are tier 4 and worse than CXM green.

But its ur choice.

Even dual core G4400 will outperform that outdated quad core.

If u dont want to be overbudget. take out the SSD and choose cheaper PSU and ddr3 motherboard.

Dont get the athlon x4. i am sure that ur friends will upgrade his RIG in the future.

and getting that is not a great choice.

That PSU is a tier 4 lol.

I can't go overbudget as he's on a very tight budget himself (he's already going a little over what he originally thought of spending).

I'll go for the G4400 then.

I just said its a TIER 4. whats wrong with you? xD

and s12ii is tier 3.

Well if ur friends are on a tight budget its best to buy USED.

U can built a pretty kick ass pc for 400 euro.

But u'ill need patience which i dont have lol.

Misread, sorry! :P

I'll see what I can do about the PSU.

I thought about going used, but there aren't many (almost none) options near my area (most parts are outdated and overpriced).

tier 4 is not a bad tier, what is it with you crazy people and your 'tier 4 is crap' bullshit? tier 4 power supplies are fine for budget gaming pcs, the issues arise when people put them in very high-end/power hungry gaming rigs with gtx 980Tis and i7 6950Xs. @STRMfrmXMN can back me up here. also, the pentium's 2 cores will cause frame drops and stuttering, no point preparing for future upgrades when you can't even play your games smoothly now. look up dual core stuttering in gta5 on youtube and you'll see exactly what i'm talking about.

At that price point a tier 4 PSU is absolutely fine, don't need to blow 100 of a 400 budget on a tier 1 PSU.
