PC won't boot with GPU power connected

So this morning, I was playing a game when all of a sudden my pc just shut down with no blue screen, no fan slow down or any of that. Trying to reboot it, it doesn't respond to anything even after multiple resets of the psu power switch.

After unseating the gpu I found that it does in fact boot. I've had this gpu for a few weeks now with no problems. I found that when the gpu is plugged into the pci slot but without the 8 pin power connected, the system boots and the led on the gpu still lights up.

Could my problem be the gpu or is my powe supply dying?

Specs:

Cpu: amd fx 6300

Gpu:sapphire rx 480 nitro+ 8gb

Psu: corsair 650w

Ram: 8gb ddr3

Difficult to say wether its the card or the PSU :/

any chance you have a friend or a replacement part for either the gpu or psu you can try?
