Overclocked i5 much better than a non Oc i5

ElPedro

Hi guys,

I have the option to buy a 6600k bundle or a 6600 bundle.

The 6600k bundle is £350.00 (mobo, cooler, cpu)
The 6600 bundle is £240.00 (mobo, cpu)

Is the 6600 much slower than an OC'ed 6600k? In normal workloads/gaming/livestreaing. I'm not sure which one to get, also the 6600k would include a better motherboard >.<

Should I just save the money? Or invest in a better rig now (as I dont ever want to change my motherboard)

obviously overclocking increases performance, quite a bit.

"Sulit" (adj.) something that is worth it

i7 8700K 4.8Ghz delidded / Corsair H100i V2 / Asus Strix Z370-F / G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200 / EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 / ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB & 250GB - Crucial MX300 M.2 525GB / Fractal Design Define S / Corsair K70 MX Reds / Logitech G502 / Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ohm

SMSL SD793II AMP/DAC - Schiit Magni 3 / PCPP

Old Rig

i5 2500k 4.5Ghz | Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P | Zotac GTX 980 AMP! Extreme | Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB 1866MHz

Anyone?

An awesome speedboost for some, longevity of the build for others...

You don't have to OC unless you need the extra power and don't have money but have sufficient cooling.

But enthusiasts do it anyway because reasons..... (faster 5-25%, sometimes higher, apps respond nicely if they are CPU heavier than others)

It's worth it to most, depending on your usage cases & mindset on Overclocking in general.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Depends on your budget here I think... Because.. 110$ difference, its close to 30% saving here....

If you dont want to OC or never OC'd before, or don't know how to OC, pick the non-oc one.

If you want to overclock, achive higher performance, and have a better re-sell value, get the OC one.

Your choice :P

Personnaly, I always pick the overclockable one, for re-sale value, and because i love to OC xD

I think youre right. I'm just going to get the OC hip, even though it probably is just a marketing ploy.

I just want to try and get a nice OC, and keep it for a few years. Thanks :)

it's not a marketing ploy,

OC does make a difference, you can get up to 10-15-20% more performance with a good OC,

The day your CPU becomes a bit weak, you can OC it and have maybe 1-2 more year out of it,

I simply overclock it right away when I receive it lolll I like to run my things at full power xD
