Endlessly restart

Go to solution Solved by anathema81,
I can't, but finally (I hope) I found the problem, one bank of ram, in dual channel, stall the system. I did another test with rams and this time, the new motherboard has reported the error correctly, it stops on memory initialization.

Thanks for all guys :)

Hello,

I assembled a pc and after a day of proper operation began lighting up only for a few seconds (2-5) and then to restart endlessly. I removed the video card, the hard disk, peripherals, and alternating two sticks of ram. The motherboard is properly attached. The fans and the heat sink are properly installed and temperatures before the block was below 40 ° (both the CPU and the video card and the interior of the case). I also tried disconnecting the various power switch and restart but the computer keeps rebooting (I have not tried to overclock anything). I've not performed a hard reset of the bios but the motherboard has two bios and also using the backup does not change anything. Could you give me some advice on how to solve the problem?

the hardware is as follows

Case define r4

MB gigabyte GA- Z87X - UD3H

CPU intel 4770k

Ram 2x8GB corsair vengeance pro

HD 4128 ocz vertex

Video card gb gigabyte gtx770 OC

PSU Enermax Revolution87 + 750w

cpu cooler corsair h90i

Thank you.

Davide

Hello there,

If you could answer these questions it would be helpful...

does the board POST?

can you access the setup? (BIOS/UEFI)

does the system attempt to boot from a specific drive?

have you installed an operating system?

As said by others: try to clear CMOS. Do you have Vcheckpoints? Try measuring the voltage on your +12V line, see if it's stable

Also, to enter your BIOS, try pounding (and not just press) delete, f1 and f11. And I mean go like tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap ;)

Cleared CMOS but nothing happend.

I do some tests with dual bios and results are:

Dual Bios - Master Bios endlessly restart

Dual Bios - Backup Bios endlessly restart

Single Bios - Master Bios endlessly restart

Single Bios - Backup Bios pc started but didn't boot, it remain simply on and do nothing...

This may sound a bit crazy, but have you tried manually powering on the PC with a flat head screwdriver on the power pins on the mobo?

I had a few customers who had this problem where the power switch was causing the board to short out. This method may eliminate the power button being the issue.

Hello there, I have the very same problem here. After a while my computer began starting itself up and turning off 2-5 seconds later and getting stuck in an endless reboot loop. I have tried clearing the cmos, nothing changed. I changed psu and still didn't make a difference. Pulled out each component in the rig to see if any of them caused the issue, didn't do anything still.

I've now ran dry of ideas guys, any help ?

My rig is:
Asus ATX Z87-k
Intel i5 4670k
Asus GTX660

Corsair Vengeance 8gb kit
Corsair 550W PSU

Have you tried manually starting it up with a flat head screwdriver? Meaning disconnecting the case power button.

Also, are you able to go to the BIOS and stay there or it'll still reboot while on there?

I'm sorry I didn't respond right away.

I managed to fix the issue by switching out the reset button with the power on button.

It's a very guerrilla style way of fixing it but right now I can't afford buying a new chassis ( will be able to soon). Apparently the power on button was somewhat faulty but it was just during the last few days of my post that it occurred which doesn't make sense. For now it works as intended so I'm not about to question the logic behind it, I'll just get a new chassis soon and if the issue occurs again I will let you know. Just a little disappointed that I had to essentially remove the Reset function for the Power On to work properly.

Thanks for the quick response there and sorry for my late one ! :)

Instead of switching out the chassis, just change out the switch?

I changed the motherboard with a msi mpower max and I found that my energmax revolution 87+ 750W doesn't work with it, I'm not the only one with that problem... damn!

Which PSU do you recommend? I'd like an 80plus,

Corsair AX760i Digital

Antec HCP-750

any others?

The Mpower Max has 1 24-pin ATX and 2 8-pin EPC connectors.

Thanks

I changed the motherboard and the psu. The problem, after 2 days of perfect run, returns as it is... The temperatures are lower than 40°C, pc sometimes remains on with black screen sometimes switch automatically between on and off... Have you same ideas, apart from throw it in the trash?

Thanks
