mATX - Motherboard - Asus Maximus VIII Gene or Gigabyte Gaming 5

Hi, I'm looking at buying a mATX 170M motherboard.   I narrowed down my choices between the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII GENE LGA 1151 Intel Z170 and the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5 motherboard.   I like the look of the Asus and it looks nice and seems well built however it cost about $209.  I was able to get Microcenter to price match Amazon and purchased it for about $130.    Is the Asus worth the extra $79?   Thanks for the suggestions.

Snip

at a glance there isn't a whole lot of difference between the two. for the Asus board you get a couple of on board things like a Q-Code display, on board power/reset/CMOS buttons and whatnot. the Gigabyte board has more USB headers onboard... but they're pretty similar overall. I can't tell you if the Asus board is worth 79 dollars more because I don't know what you want in your motherboard or how valuable 79 dollars is to you. there are certainly compelling reasons to spend the extra 79 for certain features, but it wouldn't be for everyone. Its a decision you have to make for yourself, its a good choice either way though.

Thanks for the response.   I think I'll stick with the Gigabyte Gaming 5.  The latest BIOS has Koby Lake support.   I checked out he Asus Pro Gaming.  It looks like it's a lower teir motherboard compared to the ROG Genie.   The Genie has M.2.    I'm not sure if it will have a BIOS update for Koby Lake though.
