Hey everyone,

I'm stuck between getting a 27inch 1440p monitor (say around 60hz) or a 24inch 1080p monitor (120 to 144hz). I plan on playing shooters, open world games and League of Legends. I also plan on using the montior for more day to day things like 3d modelling, or watching youtube videos. So my question is which was makes more sense to get?

It's a bit of a personal choice really. I would look for the response times in MS. They should be listed. The higher the response time the more panel lag. EX: 1MS response time is better than 8MS response time.

I don't think anyone can choose for you, it just depends on how much you play FPS games / want higher monitor performance VS resolution.

Thanks!

Response time has literally zero to do with input lag. The results of a high response time are visual anomalies such as ghosting and not a lag between your peripherals and what you see.

Getting both would be great. The 144hz panels will display everything down to 60hz and lower without fault, but the beauty will make nearly all games look more beautiful.

Ok, that's enough horse power to get above 60fps out of most games on a 1440p monitor. Have you considered a 144hz 1440p display or is that out of your budget?

I spend too much on my PC. Then I spend even more on my Sim Rig. Damn, this stuff's expensive.

Unfortunately, those go for at least $500 which is out of my budget, I'm hopefully looking in the $300 to $400 dollar range .

I just switched from 24" 1080p/144hz to 27" 1440p/75hz and I absolutely love the resolution/size increase.  The 75hz however, I thought would be enough but once you have 144hz you really can't ever go back.  I just ordered a 27" 1440p/144hz/G-sync and I'll use this 75hz as a side monitor

In that case personally I'd go for higher resolution because you are talking about 27" vs 24". I feel like a larger high res display takes priority over fps.

What model was the 75hz 1440p monitor? hard to find any reasonably priced 1440p monitor with over 60hz

I really like it quite a bit.  Seems great for someone coming from 60hz.  I just can't take the drop from 144hz
