It depends on what you are going to do in star citizen. I would take a look at something like an avenger or 300i for a starter. For the constellation you also can have a crew of 4 so if you want friends to join you then you should consider it.

Also you don't need to be in a rush they are coming out with 50,000 more alpha slots.

Hasn't the life time insurance thing already passed? Or was that deadline for pledgers in November? I forget...

The lifetime was over long ago. That was for the early backers. You now can only have 6 month insurance.

Just remember that you will be able to get all of the ships with in-game money once the game is released.  Also, if you know someone with Original backer/ Veteran status, them nay be able to get you a ship with LTI.  But I hear that insurance will be fairly cheap in game anyway so I wouldn't worry about it.  i think that any of the Origin 300i ships would be a good starter ship as they seem to be pretty versatile.

CPU AMD Ryzen 2700 X / Motherboard  / RAM 4 x 4GB  / GPU Zotac 1080Ti Amp Edition / Case Fractal Design Meshify C / Storage Samsung 850 PRO / 1TB WD Black & 2TB WD Green / PSU / Cooling Noctua / Keyboard Ducky Shine 2 / Mouse Logitech G700 / Sound O2 Amp/DAC & Audioengine A5+ speakers

Just go look at the youtube videos if you want to see the ships.

Also, more expensive doesn't mean better. Each ship has a specific role, the RSI Constellation that costs 225 does not replace the Avenger that costs 60 or a F7C-Hornet Ghost that costs 125. You have to decide what your playstyle is going to be. Dogfighting, mercantile, exploration, interception, bomber, bounty-hunting, pirating, etc. Each of those playstyles will benefit form a different ship.

Original Backers [People who pledged during the original kickstarter run, <2.5mil ish] and Veteran Backers [People who pledged before we moved to the new website, around <6.4mil ish] still obtain LTI on all of their packages even now.

This means that you can ask an OB or VB to purchase a package and send it to you currently in order for New Backers to obtain LTI.  LTI on packages will be completely removed for all backers starting November 26 so if you want LTI then act fast!
