Hello guys! im planning in to get an

intel i3 6100 with a MSI B150 Gaming M3 and an sapphire RX480 4GB and 8GB of ram

i was think in getting the corsair cx450m psu, but im also planning to upgrade to an i5 and 16GB of ram, and maybe getting an water cooler down the road

and i dont want to buy 2 psu.

Is the cx450m enough for the upgrade or should i just get a cx550m already to be safe?

Thank you!

Even with i5 and RX 480 overclocked, you wouldn't be pulling even 400W from the wall.

But that means, your PSU will be working kinda hard when everything will be working.

I would get 550W PSU if I were you.

Seasonic S12 II

Even 300W is enough for your system.

Is the SeaSonic S12II 520W good? im from Portugal and here that one is 57€

the cx550m is 73€

and the cx450m is 56€

What should i get? is the extra 16€ worth it?

I think you can go with seasonic. Those 16€ are not worth it.

I'd go for the Corsair CX450M for an i3 + 480 setup.

Defitnely the S12II 520W. Not worth spending more on modularity.

The Corsair CX450M not only offer modularity, it also offer DC-DC for better overall voltage stability for 1 € less. It's a more modern design than the 5+ years old Seasonic GB platform.

Of course, the S12II isn't bad, and both would work for the OP system.

Yes, The Corsair CX450M would be enough. If you want a more visual help, here's a benchmark of the Sapphire RX480 Nitro +.

http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/sapphire-rx-480-nitro-oc-4gb-8gb-review/30/

That's full system power consumption during gaming load. It has an i7-6600k OCed to 4.4GHz and saw a power draw of 280wAC from the wall. DC power draw (what the PSU will be outputting for your system) will be a bit lower due to inefficiency of the power supply. Power draw will be closer to 250wDC.

Also look at the Corsair Vengeance PSUs, they are better than everything listed here. Get 500W.

Yeah, the Vengeance is based on the same platform as the CX*50M, but offer better rifle bearing fan, full japanese caps, and multi-rail (a set of protection). I've often see it within the same price point CX*50M. If you can get it in your country, have a look at the Vengeance 400/500 or the 550M model if you want modularity.

The Vengeance was made to catered towards Germany, in which you may be able to get it in other parts of the EU.

If you can't get it, the CX450M would be plenty for the i5 + RX 480 setup.

All three of those will work fine.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
