So heres my 'third world problem' I have 100+ Megabits per second speeds (and I have had that speed on my computer somehow in the past and it dissapeared one day for no reason). So I live across the house (one corner to another) from my router, there are three pretty thick walls in between and about 20 meters between my computer and the router. Before answering, please take into account these statements.

1. I will not move the router (dont ask why)

2. No I still wont move my router

Ok so I currently use a TP-link AC 1750 and I was wondering if my router could be the problem, so if you guys could lead me to a better router with a greater coverage average that would be helpful.

I dont really have a price but Im paying for this probably myself (and im a grade tweleve student). I use the CAD.

Also one extra question I could set up powerline but I expect latency would be high since the rooms are pretty far (and probably not wired together).

If you were getting a decent connection which just vanished one day. Has anything new been installed? Anything from fridges, microwaves, phones/computers, other wireless devices such as security systems Or have any settings been changed on the network?

Nope, had 120megabits down (on speedtest) and was downloading steam games @ 19MB/s

Could you check the settings of the AP. Maybe the outpower has changed.

Just checked, its been consistent; only thing I believe could have changed it was the 5Ghz channel I made it the lowest possible before but I found it did not work as well as having the channel set to auto instead (performance was slower when not on auto).

Could be a bug in the firmware. I had an issue with my ageing Dlink wireless N router. The 2.4 Ghz band used to disappear. After flashing it with DDWRT the issues went away. Firstly check for Firmware updates, those can fix many issues. If no firmware from TPLink exists. You can check out DDWRT's website to see if your router is compatible. I would warn you though. DDWRT is not for the faint of heart. I had to Scour the web to find out how to set it all up.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

My router is updated to the latest firmware, and after reseting all the settings (from updating) and not having internet for a couple hours (parents were like wtf) Id rather not try DDWRT lol. Thanks for the help though.
