Hi all,

Dave again from Minnesota, USA looking at a PC design that i might be tempted to create, but would like to hear all of your advice on it as to see whether or not this rig will be epic or a dud.

This is what i was looking at creating.

My goal is to make a Gaming PC that will replace my current on that I'm very satisfied with, but i plan on giving it away to my folks so that they can have something (my ma has to be able to play her puzzles and slots now).

Games that i play = GTAV , all the Fallouts (with heavy mods), Titanfall 2, Gears 4, StarCraft 2, Metal Gear, and much more. I also want to get into mod creation for myself. The other thing that interests my fancy is making 3D and anime shorts, got to get better at though. I will want to play my games at Ultra settings at 1080p with higher frame rates.

I was planing on going dual monitor, or even tri monitors I plan on using them to replace my TV so i want to hook up my Xbox One (some friends don't want to come to the PC side of gaming), and if i can figure out the best way to set up myself so that i can watch my cable shows that would be awesome.

Peripherals I will need to acquire some new ones since the old ones are going to be going with the old PC to my folks.I was looking at some different items here or there, but not so sure as to what i will finally go with. While i will need to get some decent speakers if the monitors don't have them, i do also plan on listening to my stuff through my AstroA40s that i already own.

Like i said i will be giving the old PC away so i will need to replace it, and since i want to play games that require x12 i will unfortunately will need to go with a Windows 10 style OS.

Any advice that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Dave

Build looks good but I would suggest a higher wattage of Power Supply. I would say 750 if doable if not 650 minimum.

Other than that it looks good. Should handle your modding great also due to the speed and VRAM on the Gtx 1070.

If you are looking to save a few bucks you could downsize to a 250-500gb SSD and then get a 1tb HDD for better long term storage.

Spoiler

i7-6700k OC'd 4.5Ghz, Noctua NH-D15, EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1070 SC

I would swap the Gigabyte card for EVGA, ASUS, MSI, PNY, or Zotac.

Also, swap the case for something like a S340 so you have a window to look at your new PC. I would get a 650W PSU for future upgrades, but 550 is fine for current build. Get a Cryorig H7 instead of the current cooler, better performance and looks. There are WAY cheaper 1080p monitors out there (like 3x of this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-ka240h-24-led-fhd-monitor-black/5588523.p?skuId=5588523). Going full SSD is a great idea.

Thanks for the nice responses that you guys are giving and i hope to hear some more,

I personally don't need to have a windowed case since i usually have it sitting next to my left side so i'd have to move over that side just to see inside it, so i just go with more of performance rather than flash.

With that in mind please do let me know what you guys think.

I do think that i'd personally start with 1 monitor and acquire more monitors as i get around to it.

Thanks,

Dave
