yes, but the 'gaming' marketing is complete bullshit, even the cheapest standard kit of ddr4 16gb will do just as well as an equivalent 'gaming' kit of ddr4.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

The amount of RAM is what matters the most for games, not the speed. 8GB should be enough.

Only if you have an APU the RAM speed matters.

Main gaming pc: Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh Performance - Ryzen 5 5600X - MSI GTX1080Ti Armor - AMD Wraith Spire RGB - ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3200MHz - 500GB M.2 (and a few other drives)

Gaming laptop: ASUS GL552VW: i7 6700HQ - GTX960M 2GB - 8GB DDR4 2166Mhz RAM - 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Do you think 16GB RAM 2.4ghz will be sufficient for gaming in 5 years ahead? Thanks.

excellent question!

i have a AMD-FX 8120 from 2011 that has 16GB of 1600 RAM and it is only just showing its age. Runs its own servers in VM and plays games at the same time.

Will yours be good in 5 years?

no.

but it will not be shit.... in five years we will be at a new vulkan & directx level. we do not know what will be going down. what i do know is i have the worst processor and ram known to gamers but i can still frag you fools....

Yes. But that "gaming ram" thing triggers me so hard

Same here.

On a serious note, Kingston Value Rams will do just fine.

On a more serious note , I really wish manufacturers will get rid of the "GAMING" branding. It's irritating.
