Best binned 1070

rn8686

I am looking for the best binned 1070 to use at 4K as I dont quite have the money for a 1080. I know everyone will say that they all perform similar, but I am looking to push it as far as I can go with settings and still have it playable, not concerned too much about value (Or cost to an extent, $30 extra is no issue for a few FPS). The two I am looking at are the Zotac Amp extreme and the Asus Strix OC, but if there is a better model please tell me. Once again, not looking for value, just trying to get as close to a 1080 as possible without having to pay the full price for one.

Edit: Whats going on with the EVGA VRM thing? Would it be fixed by the time I order it (Black friday). I'm not that inclined to open it up just to fix it.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

I would word it differently: You are wanting to buy the fastest 1070 possible.

This is because the core clock is not the only thing making the 1080 alot faster.

If I remember correctly all EVGAs with the ACX 3.0 cooler have been fixed which ship in november.

New EVGA 1070s dont have the problem anymore . I've bought an EVGA 1070 FTW just before the story broke out and i haven't had problems with it .

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone . Especially if you want cool aesthetics with the RGB led in it . It's enough to light up my entire PC !

The 1080 is a higher tier and cost for a reason. A 1070 for 4K is alright now but you'll need to upgrade soon. EVGA FTW cards are good

That's an F in the profile pic

I'm not concerned about performance long-term, I plan to upgrade well within 2 years, probably much sooner (Possibly after Volta).

Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming, Zotac AMP! Extreme are probably your best bets. just look for the card(s) with the highest factory overclock or ones with the beefiest cooler.... but honestly its a waste of money if you're after 4k gaming. get a 1080 or 1080ti (when it comes out in JAN). no sense in spending 400 bucks on a GPU that could leave you wanting when a 600+ dollar solution would give you the experience you seek

I already have a 4K monitor, and dont really want to have to lower the resolution on it. I have already waited 7 months for this so I cant leave it longer and also import laws are changing in AU making it harder to import cheaply from the US (Parts are way too expensive here).

I know Gigabyte used to bin their G1 and Xtreme cards. Not sure if they do now. Galax also bin on their HoF cards but of course a shit one gets through at times.

Every G1 or HoF card I've had experience with has been an amazing overclocker though.

Take a look at the EVGA GTX 1070. According to http://www.bestadvisor.com/ it is the best pick for nowadays.

If you absolutely must have the best, you will have to decide if the 1080 is worth the extra expense and perhaps go for that.

For strict 1080P gamers that don't have special 120hz or 144hz displays, you might want to consider waiting for the upcoming GTX1060 cards, or have a look at the AMD 480 series, both of which make excellent 1080P gaming possible on a stricter budget. Good Luck!

AFAIK it's the Palit 1070 GameRock Premium, it beats the EVGA FTW Gaming, Zotac Amp Extreme, Galax HOF and MSI Gaming Z in terms of Base and Boost Clock. Its closest competitor seems to be the Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming wherein they have the same Base and Boost Clock although I can't compare when they're on oc mode since Palit didn't mention their base/boost clocks on their oc mode (assuming they have one) but aside from that, the only difference between the two is Palit's higher Memory Clock. Keep in mind though that I'm simply comparing based on paper, it's all luck in the end.
