What @Matt_98 said. Depending on how far you are from your router, and how many other devices are connected to the same network, wifi may never work no matter how good an adapter you get. Hardline is always the way to go for gaming.

When in doubt, re-format.

Modern day adapters arent that bad. My laptop for example performs nearly identically on gigabit ethernet and wifi.

I try to use Ethernet for my pc but it doesn't recognize the Ethernet cable. I have no idea if its a motherboard problem or just the cable.

Update / install drivers.

Buy a new cable, if the doesnt work maybe buy an ethernet adapter so you dont have to use the one built into your motherboard

Definitely try to troubleshoot your wired problems before trying to go with a wifi solution.

The new 8011AC with mu-mimo is ok for gaming, but that requires a $150-250 router and another $50ish on the adapter at least. Without the mumimo features, as soon as other clients start using the wifi as well, your ping will go to shit, especially if someone is streaming over the wifis.

When in doubt, re-format.

If it's not possible for you to use Ethernet which would be by far the best option I would recommend getting an tp-link archer T9e which is what I have. You are always going to get slight spikes if you are on a 2.4 Ghz network. That's why I would only recommend using this adapter for gaming over a 5Ghz network because it is very stable. So as long as you have a decent dual band router you will be fine.

Unsure what power supply to pick?

Check out my HTPC build.

I'll try an Ethernet adapter because my drivers are updated and still doesn't work. Is this one good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166088&cm_re=Ethernet_adapter-_-33-166-088-_-Product
