I've been saving a little bit now and am almost ready to begin building/upgrading Gobbles to version 2.0. I'm gonna buy the board, CPU and RAM first and worry about the rest later, as the GPU's I want will need me to save for quite a few months to afford, I want SLI GTX1080ti, so I'm hoping they release them at CES2017. The PC part picker list is here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/XD6BhqI plan to water cool it after I get all the other parts, as this still be replacing my daily PC so I need it to be usable while it's build over the course of a few months. Any comments on parts or better ones used? Although I don't think there are better ones that don't come down to personal preference for brand. Mine is ROG  :x

Yours faithfully

If you have that money then go for it. You are paying too much for aesthetic and that's what I would have done too if I have money. Good build

i'm not really concerned with athletics though, I just like ROG parts, I've always been a fan and my current mobo is the ROG Maximus V Formula, I also have an ROG G750 laptop. I picked the uber pricey SMA8 because I want a case that will last at least 3 builds, and I HATE having drive bays in the front of my case, I removed them from my current potato build, and the SMA8 has much better water

Oh wait

I would get AX if you did not have it

Because the text is red

Yes it's Red but I prefer the grey label on the RM850x, but I think the newer AX series has red lol. I also got this PSU recently to last a few builds, right now it powers a HD7870 and i5 3570k so not really being used much. It does however run for basically 18 hours a day at 100% load.

AX is a solid psu but since you already have RM then keep it. Seem fine so far. Can't imagine the electricity bill though

I have a HP ProLiant DL160 G6 with dual X5670's running 100% load 24/7, it actually heats the upper floor of my house, no fucking joke, 10°C hotter so it's useful.

In Canada mother nature take care of all the heat

yep, it was 0°C outside earlier and I had the windows open to actually cool the house, but it since rained and the temperature has risen. https://www.google.ie/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHBF_enIE717IE717&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=dublin weather

Make sense to make a ROG themed build

I had considered X99 and I would definitely use the extra cores since my server uses 12 cores with 24 threads, but I don't like the platform due to so many bugs and glitches and the cost. Also the formula has the VRM waterblock built in, so that saves an ugly block and extra cost.

Snip

I think if you're waiting for 1080ti's you should wait for the 960 pro/evo instead of getting the 950 pro... they're going to be a whole lot better. I also don't think you need nearly that many radiators but i understand the reasoning for it if you don't mind spending the money. I also think you should get a PSU with more wattage in it. 850 is a lot, but you're going to be cutting it awful close if you have SLI with dual 8 pins and you overclock everything in your system quite heavily.

Maybe, but I'll burn that bridge down when I come to it. The radiators are really because I might move to the enthusiasts platform for my next build, plus the fact like the case they last multiple builds, also it's gonna run 27/4 while I sleep. I'ms sure 850 watts would be enough since the RM series are solid units that can deliver the full load on the 12v rail but I'll know after I buy them. I might wait until I inevitably move to the higher platform assuming the next one is more solid, whatever socket or PCH they call it (looking like maybe LGA 2066 and X299 but idk, seems a little odd) I might wait for the SSD but migrating files is also a pain, so I guess a fresh install of Linux would be needed.

1080ti's could take 300W+ a piece and your CPU easily 150W+ if you go hard on your OC's (which you probably will based on the kind of case and radiators you have in there)... which leaves 100W (or less) for everything else in your system. that is your keyboard/mouse/attached peripherals, pump(s), fans, LED's, motherboard, RAM, storage devices..... you're going to be cutting it awful close m8 or you're going to have to cut back on some potential OC.

Well, I usually use Xeons and don't overclock, I might hold back on that for a while anyways, but yeah, might be cutting it close, depends on how much power the GPU's take since Pascal isn't too power hungry, not to mention the fans will be on as low as humanly possible.
