OLED? Alienware? Ten to one the battery's bad, not to mention how overpriced it is. Why Alienware?

You haven't looked at Alienware lately have you. Calling them overpriced doesn't really make sense these days.

The Alienware 13 has a build quality miles beyond the typical MSI / ASUS laptop. It has the 6700HQ in the 13 inch model as well as a 1060 card.

And it has a 400nits OLED display. It really is amazing honestly in that small of a package.

Here's a video -

It's an amazing laptop.

Yup AW is not overpriced anymore, but we still need to inform all the people who don't know that it changed. Also I already posted that video lol.

I'll be moving to Europe soon, and don't want to risk having a problem. Dell has international warranty, which is very important to me. So even paying a little more to have peace of mind is Okay. Spec for spec, Asus is cheaper. But built quality, and battery life are important to me and I am willing to pay for it.

Thank you so much Inkz! I'll take a closer look into it. Hopefully we will have some Black Friday deals.

EDIT: Forgot to say, I'd like a 17 inch. But going to college, it is difficult to carry a 17 inch to classes. But for gaming it is awesome.

For about a month I carried a 17 inch 7.5 pound laptop with to college. While I might go to a smaller college I never had any issues. But this comes down to many variables, especially with what else you carry in your bag like books. The AW 17 does weigh a little more than what I carried it is at the very far end of what I would carry. Maybe compromise in the middle and get a 15 inch, middle weight and middle size. Also no problem, if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Thanks a lot Inkz, they have a great black Friday Deal on the 15 inch. Does it fit a normal backpack? I am a strong enough guy to carry a 3.5kg laptop, They weight I think will bother me when it is in my lap...Did it bother you?

Dell has a good return policy as well. So in the worst scenario I can always return it. The good thing about the 13 inch is the OLED screen and the touch screen. But the battery life on the 15 inch is even better. I am really having a hard time..Hahah

PS: The current 15 inch is 7.7 pounds. So even the current 15 inch is heavier than the previous 17 inch.

If your back pack says it supports a 15 inch laptop, then it should be ok. I could even get away with my Sager 17 inch in a back pack rated for 15 inch laptops, but there was almost no room to spare. It also really depends on what backpack you have.  Also see if you can find one in person to try, they are pretty rare, but occasionally you might spot one on display at a Bestbuy. I don't know if many places have the newer model yet though. If you do find one and want to know about if it will fit ask an employee if you can try putting it in your bag while they watch, they might be cool with it if you explain yourself.

As for on my lap I can't really say. 99% of my use is on some sort of desk or table.  Once I had to do it to get a power outlet at college, and it was not too bad, but use a table. Also for gaming do not ever put it on your lap. Gaming laptops generate too much heat, and are terrible ergonomically when gaming with a mouse. If you just have to type a quick paper or browse a website you should be fine though.

I did notice that this year they do weigh a little more, but it can come from several reasons. I know the battery is slightly larger 99wHr, vs 92 as the largest last gen, there is metal below the keyboard to make it less squishy, and maybe the heat sinks? It is thinner, but it does weigh more.

Im fine with the compromises, getting a larger battery, good I/O and nice built quality are worth the weight. What bothers me about the 15inch is the screen, non-touch and low color gamut. If the was a better screen I would buy it right now.

I just wish that the 13inch comes on sale during Black Friday. But I am on the look out for the 15 inch. I can even get a 1070 on the 15inch.

Inkz, thanks a lot for your help. It was really awesome. Good to hear good experiences from AW owners.

The experiences I described were not from an AW laptop, but they were for describing weight and size, so it should not be too far off. I do know that @ShadowCaptain has owned an Alienware laptop and loved it.
