Hi, I am getting a Powerlink for my apartment for my 4k TV. The one I have been looking is the TP-Link AV600 . But I have a few questions before I buy one:

  1. I need one that only takes up one outlet and does not cover the other one.
  2. I live in an apartment, If someone else has a Powerlink, will it mess up mine? Each apartment has its own power meter if that gives you more information.
  3. What speeds do I need for 4k video streaming? Will the AV600 be able to handle it? All of the higher speed that I have found cover up the entire outlet which is a problem as stated above.

Thanks a lot!

Just put it in the lower socket? I'm not aware of any powerline adapters designed like what you're asking for.

Most likely not. If you want to be extra sure your adapters will only communicate with one another, there are sync buttons on each end.

Yes, the AV600 will be able to handle it. However, that also depends on your download speed from your ISP; 4K streaming requires at least 25Mbps down.

You can get powerline adaptors that have a passthrough outlet on the front of them, so even if one of these does block both outlets, you can just plug a surge strip or UPS into the outlet on the powerline adaptor.

You should make sure you are buying an "AV2" unit, not an "AV" unit. The one you linked is an AV2 model, I just mention this in case you are looking at others.

Make sure your powerline adaptors have an Encrypt, Sync, or similar button that will encrypt the data between the pair. Although it shouldn't be possible for data to leak onto another apartment's outlets, it has been known to happen (it even happens sometimes between seperate houses)

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
