DIY USB KILLER IDEA

Flamey

For those who do not know what usb killer is here are some info:

I am trying to make a DIY USB KILLER (because its $49.99+ shipping) but what i see online for this is that people are making this with disposable cameras and what not. But i want to put forward something that looks like a simpler solution to me and i just want to know will it work

IDEA:

1.  Take a Piezo Igniter from one of the cheap Lighters like this one

 2. Take a USB cable and connect the data lines with this (cause i know that these igniters can discharge 800-2000V and usb killer discharges 220V).

USB Mobile Charger

3. Plug and Boom!!!

Thanks for your time and please tell me will it work or not.

If not, can u provide a simple circuit for making it.

It will not work. They put out a large voltage but not enough total power.

These devices are for dick heads.

Don't be a dick head.

The igniters won't work because the usb ports have ESD protection chips and they'll catch that.

The protection chips just can't handle the much higher voltage (over 2000v) and the longer period of time (because energy required for such long pulse is stored in a capacitor)

Camera flash charging circuits are the easiest for this.

An alternative can be voltage multiplier circuits, basically long chains of diodes and capacitors : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltage_multiplier

The components only need to be rated for the value of the input voltage, ex 5v for usb input.. so you could use tiny 10v rated 0402 capacitors and similarly sized diodes and a long enough chain to get 100-200x Vin

But like others said.. don't do it.
