I7 4790 heat with stock fan

My i7 4790 runs at 70 Celsius when idle and at 82 when i am playing games that ask a lot of my system. is this potentially dangerous for my system?

I currently am considering buying a new cpu cooler but that costs money that might be spend on other things.

thats high. reapply thermal paste. but not high enough to actually damage anything. you are just getting less performance and its probably annoying

I find water cooling risky and the water dissipates over time. i play to use my pc for a very long time so i prefer air cooling C:

if you want air cooling thats fine. Watercooling is not risky really any more so than air cooling  though. the original kinks like leaking, evaporating water, etc doesnt really exist much anymore. its perfectly safe. But if you want an air cooler id go with this. good cooler, well made, good reviews and cheap

Yea that idle temp is not right, can u check if u installed the cooler roperly (all 4 corners are fully pushed in) ?

Your CPU gets hotter than my old GTX 760 under load.

I have same CPU but with 212 evo and I get 35-45 idle / 68 under load. The cooler is cheap $25 with decent performance so I can only recommend it.

That's just ridiculous.

Evo 212 it is! 35 when idle sounds like a wet dream for longevity!

I would look into something like the Scythe FUMA. The mounting system isn't great on the 212 EVO, not to mention it just gets bitch slapped by the FUMA.
