Need help with PS2 hook up.

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to go from RGB to VGA. I would like to hook up my PS2 to my monitor and the only cable that is open is a VGA hook up. Otherwise my monitor also has one display port and one hdmi so if it's possible to go from RGB to any of those how would I do this or is it possible at all?

RGB and VGA are the same thing.

So your saying the Red, white, and yellow cable are the same as a 15pin?

post some pictures. RGB=VGA  try it on wikipedia if you type in RGB connector it redirects you to the VGA connector page.

thats composite. red and white are audio, yellow is analogue picture.

The yellow RCA-style cable is called Composite, the red and white are for audio.

Composite video cable: 

 

The Red/Green/Blue RCA-style cables are called Component.

 

Component video cables: 

 

"YCbCr" and "YPbPr" are other names for component video. "RGB" does not refer to component video, despite the color scheme of the cables. RGB refers to VGA.

RCA is just a physical connector style, it is used for many different types of signals.

 

In this case he's talking about Composite video to VGA.

 

You can search Amazon for Composite to VGA converters, there should be plenty.

Now I have found this will this work or will it need the PS2 cable to be hooked up? Because I know some cables are weird or will it be ok with just using the Composite to VGA?

you will need a composite to VGA converter for that, and then you need to route the audio (white and red) to some form of headphones/stereo set. VGA doesn't actually carry audio so you need something for that.

Yes that's actually what I found to I'm just dumb and forgot to post the link lol. Would it be ok with just the RCA and VGA hook ups? because I know some cables are annoying and make you use all attachments for it to work properly.

No, those only work with specialized devices. Read the description: "Note: Please make sure the Video Card of your system supports TV (RCA / S-Video) output through VGA Port"

 

A more detailed warning is on Amazon: "This adapter will not convert S-Video or Composite Video signal to VGA signal. Yea I've been looking at reviews and a lot of people were saying that if you want that attachment to work you need one. Any suggestions?

You need a converter. You can buy RCA to VGA cables but they don't work, you still need the hardware to support it. 

 

What you want is something like this https://www.amazon.com/Composite-S-Video-Converter-Screen-Version/dp/B003NUN7DG then you just have to work out the sound.

I'd like to use a headset just because Speakers at least in my room don't carry sound very well.
