Hello, LTT Forums

I am trying to find an efficient portable gaming solution.

My first idea was to do a setup with the Razer core and The Razer Blade Stealth, and to use a gtx 1070 with the razer core.

However, the razer blade stealth has 13" laptop screen which is quite unbearable for me and the razer blade is pretty expensive, and i definitely do not want the razer blade pro.

storage is not that much of an issue for me because i am gonna buy some external hard drives as well.

Any other suggestions for a portable gaming setup?

i'm mostly gonna play at 1440p and 1080p, and i would like to run above 60fps on it aswell

id have to say at this day and age the razer blade stealth and the core is the most portable you can get. because if you go full blown gaming laptop then you have the issue of heat, noise, and battery life to deal with.

This is something to consider if you don't want to worry as much about a display: https://www.amazon.com/GeChic-2501C-Portable-Monitor-Inputs/dp/B00H4MWMWQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1479331305&sr=8-3&keywords=portable+HDMI+monitor

As far as I know, USB monitors don't work so well in a gaming setting. But I don't think anyone's really tried it.

Then you're going to have to flat out clearly specify you requirements for the laptop and what your budget is.

For the gaming aspect of this i would prefer to have an external GPU to utilize. That's essentially what i want, cost is not as much of a factor for me

Get a Alienware with a 6820HK any generation + Alienware Graphics Amplifier

or

Dell Precision M5510 with a 6820HQ + Razer Core (or any TB3 eGPU solution such as those from Akitio)

Only two decent ones I think are currently on the market. I would say the Apple Macbook 15in 6920HQ + any TB3 eGPU solution, but because there's so many issues with Windows on Macs, NOPE.

Laptop Main

(Retired) Zbook 15: i7-6820HQ, M2000M, 32gb, 512gb SSD + 2tb HDD, 4k Dreamcolor

(Retired) Alienware 15 R3: i7-6820HK, GTX1070, 16gb, 512 SSD + 1tb HDD, 1080p

(Retired) T560: i7-6600U, HD520, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1620p

(Retired) P650RS: i7-6820HK, 1070, 16gb, 512gb + 1tb HDD, 4k Samsung PLS

(Retired) MBP 2012 Retina: i7-3820QM, GT650M, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1800p

...have you used one? I have one.  Ones without the dGPU's work better, but the ones with a dGPU are fucked. Hot as hell all the time, dGPU on all the time, battery life goes to shit (2-3hours), plenty of functionality lost, nvidia drivers WILL fucking break bootcamp at some point etc.

Alienware 15 R3.  Powerful, reliable, sturdy, runs cool, 1060 or 1070, and all of the RAM and storage you'd ever need.  Don't forget the 8 hours of battery you get with the bigger battery.
