LED strips

I'm hoping this is the right place for this. I want some accent lighting behind my monitor and around my desk. I'd rather NOT pay $80 for Philips Hue strips. I'm hoping someone out there has used an alternative?

They have ones for around $35 on Amazon. Seen quite a few people use them. With a handheld controller btw.

using a simple lil 2m rgb strip myself no remote control just the buttons on the strip but only a couple quid, I'm sure ud find similar on the .com .ca site

If you want addressable LEDs, check out strips from Adafruit, otherwise get some 5050 strips off Amazon or Ebay.

<$15 DingDongLo eBay RGB strip should be enough.

If you don't mind some DIY work, buy a WS2812 strip from ebay along with an arduino nano those are addressable and much cheaper. I will post a tutorial on how to use them really easily along with an app I am developing.
