My friend has a old computer system and he does a lot of gaming and he wanted to upgrade his GPU,

His specs now:

 AMD RICHLAND A10-6800K 4.1 GHZ
ASROCK FM2 MAINBOARD
16 GIG DDR III GAMIING MEMORY
2 GIG RADEON R9 270X PCI EXPRESS
2 TERRABYTE 64 MEG CACHE HDD
COOLERMASTER G SERIES 600W PSU
SAMSUNG 24X DVDRW
FRACTAL DESIGNS R4 PC CASE
WIN 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 BIT OR WINDOWS 8.1 64 BIT

Would he be able to upgrade to a GTX 1060 and run fine? He will upgrade all but he won't be able to get money for ages and his computer is really slow for what he does.

Please help

As someone with a 970 I'll say the same thing. Definitely 1060 over 970 later, although I love my card as is, but the real issue is the processor. If budget is a huge problem, I'd suggest looking at a couple strong 4th gen i5 or i7s, which would preserve the RAM should it be acceptable as is. My personal biggest upgrades were hopping from an AMD 8150FX to a 4790k and investing in SSDs for glorious load times.
