hi i recently have a problem with my GPU and it happened thrice. it started to spin at 100% fan speed and the screen goes black.

1st time:

i was doing some basic task (browsing) then suddenly everything stopped and the gpu fans started to spin at 100% and the screen goes black. i have to manually shut it down using the power button on the case.

2nd time:

same thing as the 1st time but now sorting my files on my computer

3rd time:

i was doing some heavy gaming then i tried to shut down (but this time normally) the screen turned off but the GPU fans started to spin at a faster speeds i left it for a couple of seconds then shut it down manually again

anyone know whats going on with this?

Sounds like a power supply problem. Do you have another power supply or a tester you can use?

no psu tester.... and not other psu

Looking at your description, I'd say it's either the sensor on the card falsely reading high temperatures , causing it to shut itself down to protect the card, or the cooler is not seated properly on the card, which is unlikely. Try returning it to where you bought it or contact Asus. Also check that you have enough airflow in the case, so that it's not just reusing its own hot air.

I monitor the temperatures every time i can. it seems to be sitting at 31 degrees celcius at idle and 50-59 on load, i dont think the sensor will be the issue since i tested it on 3 different softwares (asus gpu tweak, msi afterburner, and gpu-z) they give almost identical readings. and i am certain my case has good airflow. but thank you for your reply

Check that you have the latest drivers, otherwise I'd recommend just returning it. A 1060 with such a beefy cooler should never get hot
